Inspections
Inspections are carried out by inspectors from local authority known as Environmental Health Inspectors or, more often, Environmental Health Practitioners (EHPs). These inspections are undertaken on a regular basis dependant upon what the inspector finds. For instance, if they find the premises are clean, well managed and safe working practices are adopted, they will inspect less frequently. Other reasons they may inspect are due to complaints received or accident investigations.
Remember to be professional and always cooperate with the inspector (they do carry warrants for powers of entry). Above all, however, an inspector should offer guidance and advice, and should be approachable and friendly.
