Habia Skills Team hits South Wales with hair and barbering show

Posted: Wednesday 04 November 2009

Habia's Skills Team is on the road again and will be in South Wales on Monday 30 November with their latest innovative and inspiring hair and barbering show.

Offering salon professionals and employers the chance to see up close the latest styles and learn cutting edge techniques on how to improve their careers and businesses, Habia's hair shows have proven extremely popular throughout the UK, performing to sold-out audiences of enthusiastic hairdressers across the country.

The show will be held at The Celtic Manor Resort, Newport, in partnership with awarding body VTCT. Onstage demonstrations will feature team manager Erik Lander with MK, Ross Miller, David Morgan and Malachy Weatherall showing how the latest styles and fashions can be achieved in the salon through vocational training - emphasising the link between gaining qualifications such as NVQs and the workplace skills that meet customer demand. Make up for the night will be provided by Louise Young.

Employers and salon owners will also get the chance to pre-submit any questions they have concerning the burning business and training issues of the day and have them answered at a pre-show Q&A with Habia's Head of Policy and Deputy CEO, Andrew Darby, and Habia Development Manager in Wales, Tudor Phillips.

Erik Lander said, ‘It's important that salon professionals and managers upgrade their skills to maintain their competitive edge, especially considering the way the economy is. Salons that invest in training and developing the skills of their staff will be able to meet client demand and continue to grow their business.'

He added, ‘The best way to explain something to someone is to show them. That's what the Skills Team do – they show you new cuts, techniques and new fashions whilst also encouraging salon staff and managers to take a positive approach to learning.' The Q&A will take place between 5pm and 6pm. If you wish to attend the Q&A session and submit questions then email

Reception for the event will be 6pm and 7pm, with the show kicking off at 7pm and finishing at 9pm.
